I hated NASCAR until I went to one. The sounds, the energy and the people will get you hooked. I still can't watch it on TV, except the last ten laps or so. Kind of like football, not really interesting until the end....

That, and NASCAR knows how to market. they know who the audience is and they cater to them... Other sports could learn from them....

Thanks for listening...

Joan,

I think it depends if your watching it in person or on TV. If I watch a race on TV by myself I tend to fall asleep until the last 10 minutes. If my race buddy's are over watching a race we talk the whole time until the last 10 minutes when my house rules dictate that everyone must shut up! Watching a race live is the way to go! You can feel the engines, the excitement, and in general just start shouting for your driver not to do anything stupid. If watching live get a race radio, worth every penny and easier to keep up with the action. You can also listen to your favorite driver in the car!
See you at the track!

Great blog.

I'm just starting to get into NASCAR. But I find that I'm more interested in the last 10 minutes of the race than sitting through several hours of it.

Is this typical of most new NASCAR fans?
