It seems that when we talk racing, the queen of speed always seems to come up. So it comes as no surprise that at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, all eyes seems to be on Danica Patrick. Tomorrow will be her last official IndyCar Race, as she moves full-time into the more lucrative NASCAR series racing.
Today is qualifying day at Las Vegas Motor Speedway for NASCAR trucks race on Saturday, as well as IndyCar Championship race on Sunday. So things are happening out here, but not much excitement to report. Everyone setting up to race. They do a few laps, do some adjustments. More laps, more tuning….. more inspections and the Lunch Lady Nazi….
Yes, the Lunch Lady Nazi
That’s the only thing I could think of as I watched her work. Lunch for media people today was being sponsored by Chevrolet. We all dutifully filled into the lunchroom with our tickets in hand.
In front of me were a few people there as guests of Chevrolet and the big cheese from Chevrolet was standing next to the ticket lady as these guests passed by. When she saw that they didn’t have tickets, she went ballistic… No ticket? No lunch. No excuses, no exceptions…. Even if the Big Cheese from Chevrolet, the man who would sign the bill, was standing next to her, asking her to please let them by. She didn’t care who he was, they needed tickets. You just can’t bring people into the lunch line without tickets – People find that out and every tom, dick and harry will be here for a free lunch. Even if you are paying for the whole thing with no limit on the numbers of people served, you still need to get your guests tickets.
It was hilarious…
Finally another Chevrolet executive had extra tickets in his pocket and bailed the guests out. They were finally allowed to continue thru the lunch line.
