In 1983, Las Vegas casino boss Benny Binion took some Las Vegas boosters to Oklahoma to convince the Pro Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) to move their Finals to Las Vegas. Many people laughed at the idea and questioned the sanity of moving an event like tis to a town like THAT,
The final vote came down to a 6-6 tie. The president of the PRCA broke the tie by voting “yes”. And the world of rodeo was changed forever!
For the past 27 years, pretty much all of Las Vegas turns country for 10 days and the cowboys and their fans come calling. Cowboy fever hits just about everyone. Even the hookers are dressed in cowboy boots and leather chaps!!
We like it because December is our worst month for tourists. So having all the cowboys, cowgirls and half of Nashville show up to dump $50 million in to the economy, makes for a nice Christmas present.
About Last Night
Last night I sat with 17,001 other rodeo fans and family for what is normally an uneventful opening night. Everyone is getting the feel of the place. Getting used to the seats and the arena. Not saying they don’t give it all each an every night. But the excitement usually doesn’t really start to build until nite 3 or 4.
But last night they all came out of the chutes firing on all cylinders. You really didn’t want to miss much of it and you could tell because the bathroom lines were usually short as people raced in and out!

Want to see it but can’t get a ticket?? Not a problem… Just about every casino and sports book in town is offering a live feed from the event. Sit in the casino, belly up to the var and watch it on the big screen!

I thinks its going to be a fun 10 days!
