Around here, we look forward to Thanksgiving – not so much for the food and the festivities as for what it means. Thanksgiving to us at The Vegas Tourist means the last bit of calm before the 10 day storm know as The National Finals Rodeo (NFR).
Think of it… 10 days of tight Wranglers, leather chaps, cowboy hats, horses and bulls… Many may think the fun would be in the sold out Thomas & Mack center every night…. But that’s not where the real party is. Thousands of fans show up without tickets or any plans of getting the hard to find tickets. Nope, they show up to Party Vegas Style…. They come for viewing parties, get-together and concerts held in conjunction with the NFR.
Names like Reba McEntire, Charlie Daniels and other top country acts help turn Vegas into Nashville West for the duration. On top of seeing the top acts in country, the best rodeo riders, cowgirls and partying till you can’t party any more… There is shopping. The NFR sponsors Cowboy Christmas. A huge cowboy/western themed gift show that is so big, it has to be held at the Las Vegas Convention Center. That’s on top of the other craft, vendor and gift shows that spring up for this event.
Don’t worry, we will keep you up to date with all the NFR as well as the other fun. We also have the NASCAR end of year events, dinner and burnouts on the Strip. Plus Sazzy will be doing her 1/2 marathon this coming weekend…. So buckle in and get ready, we have a busy week coming at you…
