We at The Vegas Tourist hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving day with family and friends. We all have a lot to give thanks for this year…. Thankfully the fat girl still lives in Sazzy because she is a damn good cook. She made enough food for 10 and served 5. It’s a Minnesota Thing!….
But now, its on to more important things. Like NASCAR Champions Week and National Finals Rodeo (NFR). That’s right, it’s rednecks and cowboys in Vegas for the next two weeks!! Life is good!
Most fans love NASCAR Champions week because the drivers cruise down the strip in their race cars and do burnouts in front of the Wynn. I love it because its the one time of the year my co-host actually gets all dolled up and really struts her stuff. It’s fun to watch those who shunned the lady 170 pounds ago, now turn their heads and watch her as she walks the red carpet…
NASCAR Champions Week
The event is actually their annual awards banquet and celebration for the year. But that’s pretty boring for Vegas, so they pump it up a notch.
Wednesday we head down to Fremont Street for the Las Vegas Motor Speedway’s Champion’s Week Kickoff Event on Fremont Street. That starts at 1:30pm
Thursday is the big event for the fans. A chance to see the top drivers run their cars down the Strip.
Friday night is the big shindig for the drivers. The red carpet and the banquet. Everyone gets dressed up for this night. This year Kid Rock and Reba McEntire will be the entertainment.
National Finals Rodeo
As the NASCAR fans wrap it all up, the cowboys just start to get warmed up. From December 1 to December 10, the best in the world for Rodeo are here to show off their stuff and win the buckle. I swear, I think NASCAR is the only sport that the winner doesn’t get jewelry!
While they are doing their thing inside the Thomas and Mack, the best stars in country music fill up the night clubs and concert venues.
Than We Die
Not literally. It’s just that NFR usually signals the end of the year for Las Vegas. We will pretty much die as far as tourist and tourism goes for the next two weeks. That’s when most shows go dark for a break and tune ups just before the Christmas kick off. Thankfully Christmas is on a weekend. That also means New Years is too and when its a weekend holiday, that means some serious parties are happening….
That’s followed by the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) the first weekend in January. This will be the first time CES is held without the porn convention. They moved that to February and at the Palms.
So it should be an interesting couple of weeks around here!!
Hope your ready!!
