Do you miss the 60′s? Or, maybe you can’t remember the 60′s? Or you are too young to be part of that era, yet think it would be a lot of fun to pretend you were?? Hey not a problem my friend, this is Vegas after all, and we excel at fantasy.
If you want a flashback or a trip down memory lane this summer, you need to get your booty here. The Fremont Street Experience (FSE) is paying tribute to 1969 all summer long.
They have loaded up the calendar with a lot of free rock concerts, plenty of tie-dye T-shirts, peace symbols, and probably some really nice aroma therapy to help trigger those memories of a year many people remember… or like to say they remember…
No tribute bands need apply. Nope, they wanted the real thing so they brought out the big guns from that year… Blood, Sweat and Tears; Three Dog Night; the 5th Dimension; Rare Earth; the Grass Roots, and Canned Heat just to name a few. These are all free shows my friend… Gratis, no moola, no greenbacks… no ,,,, oh never mind… Just grab a margarita by the yard, hang out by the stage, and travel back in time.
Organizers for all this went out and hired John Van Hamersveld — the dude most famous for the cover of the Beatles 1967 album “Magical Mystery Tour.” John’s job is to paint two buses, one of which is to be used as a stage.
Not to forget those who made the ultimate sacrifice, there will be special video shows planned for the big screen overhead, include a rolling-credits style memorial for the 58,000 Americans killed or still missing in action from the Vietnam War
So, if you want to try your hand out at being a long lost hippie (The Ace Reporter above), or honor the first astronauts walking on the moon, and Woodstock… get on down to Downtown Las Vegas this summer and lets get together!
