My last post was about the Historic Route 66 Fun Run and how it is started each year by the man many calls “The guardian of Route 66” Angel Delgadillo. When Angel turned 87, I was there to interview the man and he was kind enough to invite me to sit his famous barbershop chair while I did the interview. I truly felt so honored.
To say this interview was really “lost” is not accurate. I thought it was on here. I thought I had posted it way back when. But it was actually posted elsewhere and so I moved on here to help explain my previous story.
Angel is The Man!
Angel was literally born on Route 66. His home sat alongside the original alignment of the highway. When it was later moved one block, Angel went along with it. He started a pool Hall and barbershop. Using the same barber chair that his father used, he cut hair for the people in Seligman as well as the people passing thru on their way to other famous cities. Until the Interstate opened. Well, you probably know the rest of that story by now!
Enjoy the interview, Angel has a mind like a steel tramp and knows who to give credit to. He has an interesting way to look at life and enjoys the life he has lived.
