The High-Speed Train to Las Vegas – The Update

April 16, 2020 by Mark Anthony

The former “Choo-Choo to nowhere”  has now become the Fast-Tracked Train to Las Vegas!

If all things continue to move as they are now, by late 2023 or early 2024, people coming out of southern California will be able to get off the crowded Interstate highway in Victorville, California, and jump onto the super smooth, super fast High-Speed train.

Arriving in comfort to the Las Vegas station 90 minutes later. Relaxed and ready to party! With trains running three to nine times a day, seven days a week.

Yes, We will have a high-speed train going from Victorville, California to Las Vegas by late 2023 or early 2024.

What changed?

Xpress West, a company that had been trying for almost 20 years to get something built between Las Vegas and Victorville, California changed. They never got beyond the photo-op stage. They were sold last year to a consortium that included Virgin Trains USA and Brightline. Naming the company “Virgin Trains”.  Brightline already has a successful train running in south Florida, between Miami and West Palm Beach and that line is expanding.

Here in the west, Brightline/Virgin Trains USA has already clear several major hurdles. They have land for the train stations already picked out and working on development plans. They moved the trains away from Union Pacific Railroad right-of-way and putting the tracks in the I-15 freeway corridor for safety, security and speed.

To really add fuel to the fire, they are working with Clark County (Las Vegas) aviation on how to build the tracks and maybe a station around the someday-in-the-future new airport in Ivanpah Valley.
